Welcome to Positive School Climate!
Our department offers support to the Community and District Staff in the following areas:

Uniform Complaint Procedure (UCP)
Title IX
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
Williams Uniform Complaint Procedure

WHAT IT MEANS AND WHERE TO FIND IT…

PBIS- Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a proactive approach to establishing the behavioral supports and social culture needed for all students in a school to achieve social, emotional and academic success. LUSD is in training to use a three (3) tiered school-wide system to facilitate positive learning and behavioral expectation at all of our school sites. Contact our office for additional information.

Uniform Complaint Procedure (UCP) - Is a statement by an individual, public agency, or organization alleging (A) unlawful discrimination based on ethnic group identification, religion, age, gender, color, or physical and/or mental disability, sex, sexual orientation, race, ancestry, or national origin,  or (B) a failure to comply with federal and/or state laws governing certain educational programs. Complaints are filed with the principal, or their designee, of the school in which the complaint arises. Complaints may also be filed with our department. School sites have UCP complaint forms available, they are also available on our District Website. See UCP Policy and Rule # 1312.3.  To file a complaint use UCP Exhibit # 1312.3.

Title IX- Prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity. For Grievance Procedures for a complaint alleging a violation of Title IX please click here.

Williams Uniform Complaint Procedure (UCP) - Is another type of UCP complaint in regards to (A) instructional materials, (B) emergency or urgent facilities conditions that pose a threat to the health and safety of pupils, and (C) teacher vacancy or misassignment.  Williams Complaints are filed with the principal, or their designee, of the school in which the complaint arises.  School sites have UCP complaint forms available, they are also available on our District Website. A complaint will be accepted as long as it is submitted in writing. See Williams UCP #1312.4 Rule and Exhibit 1.  To file a complaint use Williams UCP # 1312.4 Exhibit 2.

Our PBIS Mission is to provide LUSD with a system of School-Wide Positive Behavior Supports that will create a climate of cooperation, academic excellence, and social-emotional competence. Through explicit modeling of behaviors and expectations, students and staff will be responsible, respectful, safe, and will persevere in all academic and social endeavors.

VISION STATEMENT
It is our Vision to facilitate the effective teaching and learning of positive behavioral expectations.  It is our Vision to help each child reach their greatest potential.  Through positive behavioral supports, we aspire to teach life skills that enable children to deal confidently with the complex and rapidly changing world.

GOAL STATEMENT
It is our Goal to treat each other with respect, take responsibility for our learning, and strive for a safe and positive school for all.

“The goal of Positive Behavior Support is not “perfect children”. Rather the goal should be creating the perfect environment for enhancing their growth.”
- Randy Sprick
